Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on June 23, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., local time, at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W064, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana will hold a public hearing to amend 844 IAC 5-6 to establish standards and protocols regarding the prescribing of abuse deterrent formulations for opioids.

There are no costs associated with this rule. The only mandate is that physicians have a conversation with their patients about using abuse deterrent formulations as an alternative, if available. There is no mandate that abuse deterrent formulations actually be prescribed. These conversations would presumably be within the context of already scheduled patient visits.

Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072 and Legislative Services Agency, Indiana Government Center North, 100 North Senate Avenue, Room N201, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
