Temporarily adds rules regarding the size, character, display, mounting, securing, content, issuance, replacement, and life cycle of license plates, temporary license plates, renewal stickers, and other proof of registration. Statutory authority: IC 9-18.1-4-3. Effective September 29, 2016.

SECTION 1. (a) As used in this SECTION, "renewal sticker" means the sticker issued to a registrant upon renewal of a vehicle's registration. The sticker shall include the new expiration date for the registration of the vehicle.

(b) Where the original expiration date of a license plate has passed, a license plate must display a renewal sticker as described in this SECTION in order for the vehicle to be operated on the highway.

(c) A renewal sticker must be securely affixed in the right hand corner of the license plate, so that renewal sticker covers the previous registration expiration date displayed.

(d) A person who fails to display a renewal sticker on a vehicle's license plate when required by this SECTION violates IC 9-18.1-4-4.

SECTION 2. (a) This document takes effect September 29, 2016.

(b) This document expires December 28, 2016.
