Section 856IAC2-3-34. Storage; security controls for practitioners

  •    Physical security controls for practitioners. (a) Controlled substances listed in Schedule I [856 IAC 2-2-2] shall be stored in a securely locked substantially constructed cabinet.

      (b) Controlled substances listed in Schedules II, III, IV, and V [856 IAC 2-2-3856 IAC 2-2-6] shall be stored in a securely locked, substantially constructed cabinet. However, pharmacies and institutional practitioners (as defined) in Chapter I, 1.01 [856 IAC 2-1-1] may disperse such substances throughout the stock of noncontrolled substances in such a manner as to obstruct the theft or diversion of the controlled substances.

      Controlled substances (institutional practitioners─ward and floor stock) listed in Schedule II [856 IAC 2-2-3] and narcotic drugs in Schedule III [856 IAC 2-2-4] shall be stored in a securely locked substantially constructed cabinet or device. Controlled substances (institutional practitioners ward and floor stock) listed in Schedules III, IV, and V [856 IAC 2-2-4856 IAC 2-2-6] may be dispersed in their ward or floor stock in such a manner as to obstruct theft or diversion of these controlled substances.

      (c) This section shall also apply to nonpractitioners authorized to conduct research or chemical analysis under another registration.
