Section 844IAC18-1-8. Self-management training techniques

  •    A licensed diabetes educator in the conduct of his or her profession shall follow the tenets of the diabetes self-management training techniques. Diabetes self-management training techniques are an interactive, collaborative, ongoing process involving the individual with diabetes and the licensed diabetes educator that includes:

    (1) assessing the individual's specific educational needs;

    (2) setting goals to identify the individual's specific diabetes self-management goals;

    (3) planning the educational interventions and goals;

    (4) implementing the education plan and helping the individual achieve identified self-management goals; and

    (5) evaluating/monitoring the individual's attainment of identified self-management goals and clinical outcomes.
