Section 140IAC9-2-28. Fee for late title application

   (a) To determine the date that a person obtained ownership for purposes of imposing the late title fee under IC 9-31-2-17 [IC 9-31-2 was repealed by P.L.198-2016, SECTION 617, effective July 1, 2016.], the bureau will use the earliest date of a seller's signature on an assigned title, certificate of origin, or bill of sale. If a date has been altered, the bureau shall impose a late title fee.

  (b) A nonresident owner of a watercraft with an out-of-state title who applies for a title in Indiana is not subject to a late title fee.
