Temporarily amends 312 IAC 8 and 312 IAC 9 to govern hunts at Chelsea Flatwoods Nature Preserve in Jefferson County, Douglas Woods Nature Preserve in Steuben County, Fawn River Fen Nature Preserve in LaGrange County, Ober Savanna Nature Preserve in Starke County, Saunders Woods Nature Preserve in Gibson County, Swamp Angel Nature Preserve in Noble County, and Thousand Acre Woods Nature Preserve in Daviess County. Effective September 15, 2007.

SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding 312 IAC 8-2 and any other provision governing taking of a wild animal from a nature preserve dedicated under IC 14-31-1 or otherwise in Indiana, an individual qualified under this document may, with a firearm or bow and arrows authorized under 312 IAC 9-3-3 and 312 IAC 9-3-4, take a white-tailed deer from any of the following nature preserves managed in Indiana by The Nature Conservancy:

(1) Chelsea Flatwoods Nature Preserve in Jefferson County.

(2) Douglas Woods Nature Preserve in Steuben County.

(3) Fawn River Fen Nature Preserve in LaGrange County.

(4) Ober Savanna Nature Preserve in Starke County.

(5) Saunders Woods Nature Preserve in Gibson County.

(6) Swamp Angel Nature Preserve in Noble County.

(7) Thousand Acre Woods Nature Preserve in Daviess County.

(b) In order to qualify under subsection (a), an individual must hunt deer in compliance with 312 IAC 9-3-2 through 312 IAC 9-3-4 within the period from October 1 through January 6, 2008.

(c) In addition to the requirements of subsection (b), an individual must obtain a prior written permit from The Nature Conservancy to engage in the hunt for a specified nature preserve. A permit under this subsection is not valid unless a complete list of all authorized hunters, dates, and locations is provided by The Nature Conservancy to the division of law enforcement of the department of natural resources before the commencement of the hunt.
