Notice of Public Hearing

Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on August 28, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. EDT, at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 14, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to update NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code to the 2010 Edition, make conforming changes, and repeal 675 IAC 13-1-9 (NFPA 14) and 675 IAC 28-1-22 (NFPA 58).

The Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission has the authority to adopt this rule under IC 22-13-2. The new rule allows the use of new technologies for fire alarm systems and the elimination of devices in some areas. The proposed rule will result in cost savings to the regulated community and allow the use of new technologies without having to obtain a variance from the Commission for the use of the new technologies.

Public comments are invited and may be directed to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Code Services Section, Attn: Mara Snyder, Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Room W246, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204.

Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Room W246 and Legislative Services Agency, Indiana Government Center North, 100 North Senate Avenue, Room N201, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
