Interpretation by the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission

Title: Interpretation of 675 IAC 18-1.6, 2014 Indiana Mechanical Code, Table 507.2 and Sections 507.2.2 and 507.2.3

Purpose and Background: The purpose of this nonrule policy is to clarify the hood requirements for residential appliances used in Class 1 Buildings that are not Retail Food Service Establishments regulated by 410 IAC 7-24.

Interpretation: The Commission hereby interprets Table 507.2, 507.2.2, and 507.2.3 to not require either Type I or Type II hoods for residential cooking appliances used in warming kitchens and employee break rooms in other than Retail Food Service Establishments regulated by 410 IAC 7-24.
