Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on May 22, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. EDT, at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Conference Center Rooms 1 and 2, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to amend 675 IAC 12-4 (Development and Application of Rules) and 675 IAC 12-6 (Design Releases), add 675 IAC 13-2.6 to adopt the 2012 International Building Code, first printing, with Indiana amendments to create the 2014 Indiana Building Code, and repeal 675 IAC 13-2.5 (2008 Indiana Building Code).

The Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission has the authority to adopt this rule under IC 22-13-2. The proposed rule allows the use of new methods, materials, and technologies for the construction, alteration, and addition of Class 1 structures, the reduction of regulation in reuse of existing buildings, and increased protection of buildings from the hazards of high wind event, as well as incorporating an updated edition of the International Building Code. The proposed rule will result in cost savings to the regulated community and allow the use of new materials, methods, and technologies without having to obtain a variance from the Commission for the use of the new materials, methods, and technologies.
