Notice of Intent to Adopt a Rule
    LSA Document #10-333

Under IC 4-22-2-23, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health intends to adopt a rule concerning the following:

OVERVIEW: The rule will clarify state rabies vaccination procedures as follows: The current law states that a licensed and accredited veterinarian must administer a rabies vaccination in order for the animal to be legally vaccinated for rabies in Indiana (345 IAC 1-5). The Indiana State Board of Animal Health proposes to clarify the rule by stating clearly that the rabies vaccination requirement is met when a registered veterinary technician or veterinary assistant administers a rabies vaccination under the direct supervision of a licensed and accredited veterinarian. BOAH proposes to utilize the current definitions of registered veterinary technician, veterinary assistant, and direct supervision in the Indiana Veterinary Practice Act, IC 25-38.1-1. The rule will make other changes in the law of rabies control, including updating matters incorporated by reference. Questions and comments concerning the proposed rule may be sent to the Small Business Regulatory Coordinator for this rule. Statutory authority: IC 15-17-3-21; IC 15-17-6.

For purposes of IC 4-22-2-28.1, the Small Business Regulatory Coordinator for this rule is:
