Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on April 22, 2010, at 9:30 a.m., at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W064, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana will hold a public hearing to create 844 IAC 14, which establishes definitions, education and examination requirements for licensure, and licensure renewal requirements for genetic counselors.

The proposed rule is needed to establish requirements and fees to implement the new licensure process for genetic counselors as required by House Enrolled Act 1573 (P.L.177-2009). The initial application fee is $40 per individual. The licenses will be renewed at the cost of $30 every two years. The fees are necessary to offset administrative costs associated with licensure and regulation of this profession.

Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
