  • TITLE 868 STATE PSYCHOLOGY BOARD

    Notice of Public Hearing
    LSA Document #09-872

    Notice of Public Hearing

Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on March 12, 2010, at 9:30 a.m., at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 4, Indianapolis, Indiana, the State Psychology Board will hold a public hearing to amend 868 IAC 1.1-4-1 regarding the doctoral degree in psychology and educational requirements for licensure, to repeal 868 IAC 1.1-5-2, to amend 868 IAC 1.1-5-7 by removing the waiting period between examinations, and to amend 868 IAC 1.1-12-4 regarding procedures for requesting duplicate license or renewal cards.
The proposed rule will not impose costs on small businesses under IC 4-22-2.1-5. The current rule requires an applicant to have completed at least three graduate semester hours in biological basis of behavior, cognitive-affective basis of behavior, social basis of behavior, and individual differences. The proposed change will allow an applicant to bypass these requirements provided that the program completed was approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time that the doctoral degree was conferred. This new streamlined process will eliminate a barrier to practice by simplifying the course selection process for students and schools and by allowing the Board and its staff to process applications for licensure more efficiently. Additionally, the rule change cleans up old language to avoid any confusion and to improve government processes.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
