DIGEST

Temporarily amends 312 IAC 8 and 312 IAC 9 to govern hunts at Conrad Savanna Nature Preserve in Newton County, and, collectively, at the Wabash Lowlands Nature Preserve and the Section Six Flatwoods Nature Preserve in Posey County. Effective September 25, 2006.

SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding 312 IAC 8-2 and any other provision governing taking of a wild animal from a nature preserve dedicated under IC 14-31-1 or otherwise in Indiana, an individual qualified under this document may, with a firearm under 312 IAC 9-3-3 or 312 IAC 9-3-7, take a white-tailed deer from Conrad Savanna Nature Preserve in Newton County and from Wabash Lowlands Nature Preserve and Section Six Nature Preserve in Posey County, Indiana.

(b) In order to qualify under subsection (a), an individual must hunt with a firearm as governed by 312 IAC 9-3-3 or 312 IAC 9-3-7 within the period from November 18 through December 24, 2006.

(c) In addition to the requirements of subsection (b), an individual is restricted to the terms of, and must qualify under, this subsection to engage in a selected hunt on November 18, November 19, or November 20, 2006.

(1) Pursuant to a drawing, a different set of hunters would be selected for each of the three (3) dates for the following:

(A) Conrad Savanna Nature Preserve.

(B) Collectively for the Wabash Lowlands Nature Preserve and the Section Six Nature Preserve.

(2) An individual must file an application for a selected hunt on a departmental form that is actually received by October 13, 2006, at 4:00 p.m., EDT (3:00 p.m., CDT) at the following location:

A copy of the application form may be obtained at the main offices of the LaSalle Fish and Wildlife Area, the Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife Area, or the Hovey Lake Fish and Wildlife Area.

(3) Due to the sizes of the nature preserves and their parking lots, the number of individuals qualifying for the selected hunts is limited to the following:

(A) Twelve (12) individuals at the Conrad Savanna Nature Preserve.

(B) A total of ten (10) individuals for the Wabash Lowlands Nature Preserve and the Section Six Flatwoods Nature Preserve.

(4) The division of nature preserves shall conduct a drawing on October 17, 2006. Successful applicants for the selected hunts would be informed by mail.
