    Notice of Public Hearing

    Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on February 17, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at the Indiana State Department of Education, Virgil Grissom Room, 151 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Advisory Board of the Division of Professional Standards will hold a public hearing on a proposed new rule to add 515 IAC 6 to require interpreters or transliterators to hold a permit if the interpreter or transliterator is hired to work with a deaf or hard of hearing student by a school corporation, to establish the permitting process and details of the permit, including establishing the permit as a two year permit, to require applicants to submit certain information as part of the application process and establishes eligibility requirements for the permit, to require certain professional growth experiences for permit holders to be eligible for permit renewal and establishes an emergency permit, to establish a code of ethics for educational interpreters and grandfathers certifications made under prior rules that were valid as of June 30, 2010, and to define additional processes and requirements for the efficient implementation of the permitting process.
    The proposed rule amendments would not impose requirements or costs under IC 4-22-2-24(d)(3).
    Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Department of Education, 151 West Ohio Street and Legislative Services Agency, Indiana Government Center North, 100 North Senate Avenue, Room N201, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
