    FOR: PARDON FOR MARQUITA BRAXTON


    TO ALL WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS.

    WHEREAS, Marquita Braxton, who petitioned for pardon was convicted in 1993 in Madison Superior Court of three counts of Dealing in Cocaine – a Class B felony and sentenced to 13 years for each count, to run concurrently; and

    WHEREAS, the petitioner was released on probation in 1997 and successfully completed probation in 2000; and

    WHEREAS, the petitioner is now 46 years old, has not been convicted since successfully completing her sentence, has earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree, and has actively volunteered in her community; and

    WHEREAS, family members, co-workers, and the sentencing judge are supportive of petitioner receiving a pardon; and

    WHEREAS, the Indiana Parole Board, after careful investigation, review and examination of the facts with respect to petitioner in this matter has unanimously recommended that the Governor pardon petitioner.

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael R. Pence, Governor of the State of Indiana, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Indiana Constitution and the laws of the State, do hereby issue a Pardon to MARQUITA BRAXTON, and it is so ordered.

    IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I, Michael R. Pence, have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Indiana on this 9th day of January, 2015.
