STATE OF INDIANA EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT INDIANAPOLIS

EXECUTIVE ORDER: 13-25

FOR: DECLARING A DISASTER EMERGECNY [sic] IN BOONE, DAVIESS, FOUNTAIN, GRANT, AND TIPPECANOE COUNTIES AND EXTENDING THE DISASTER EMERGENCY FOR HOWARD COUNTY DUE TO SEVERE STORMS, STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS, AND TORNADOES

TO ALL WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS.

WHEREAS, Ind. Code § 10-14-3-12 provides that the governor shall declare a disaster emergency by executive order if he determines that a disaster involving widespread or severe damage, injury or loss of life or property has occurred or that the occurrence or threat of a disaster is imminent;

WHEREAS, beginning and concluding on November 17, 2013, a severe weather system moved through Boone, Daviess, Fountain, Grant, Howard, and Tippecanoe Counties, and consisted of straight-line winds and twenty-eight tornadoes that touched down in Indiana;

WHEREAS, the weather system caused widespread damages to homes, businesses, and public property; and

WHEREAS, residences and businesses experienced excessive loss.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael R. Pence, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby:

DECLARE that a state of disaster emergency exists in Boone, Daviess, Fountain, Grant, and Tippecanoe Counties. This declaration of disaster emergency shall be effective immediately and continue for thirty (30) days pursuant to Ind. Code § 10-14-3-12;

DECLARE that the disaster declared pursuant to Executive Order for Howard County on December 3, 2013, is extended until January 23, 2014; and

ORDER the Executive Director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to coordinate all necessary assistance with appropriate state and local agencies.
