Section 675IAC15-2-53. Drainage systems; materials

  •    (a) Pipe. Drainage piping shall be standard weight steel, wrought iron, brass, copper tube DWV, listed plastic, cast iron, or other approved or listed materials. Drainage piping shall be designed to provide for one-fourth inch (1/4") per foot grade in horizontal piping.

    EXCEPTION: Horizontal drainage piping may have a uniform slope of not less than one-eighth (1/8) of an inch per foot or one (1) percent toward the point of disposal provided accessible cleanouts are installed per Section 40 of this code.

      (b) Fittings. Drainage fittings shall be recessed drainage pattern with smooth interior waterways of the same diameter as piping and shall be of a material conforming to the type of piping used. Fittings for screw pipe shall be cast iron, malleable iron, brass, or listed plastic with standard pipe threads. Fittings for copper tubing shall be cast brass or wrought copper. Socket-type fittings for plastic piping shall comply with listed standards. Brass or bronze adapter or wrought copper fittings shall be used to join copper tubing to the threaded pipe.
