Section 675IAC15-2-12. Walls

  •    (a) The walls shall be of sufficient strength to withstand the load requirements as defined in 675 IAC 15-2-10 without exceeding the deflections as specified in 675 IAC 15-2-14. The connections between the bearing walls, floors, and roof framework members shall be fabricated in such a manner as to provide support for the material used to enclose the mobile structure and to provide for transfer of all lateral and vertical loads to the floor and chassis.

      (b) Drilling or Notching of Wood Wall Structural Members. Except where substantiated by engineering design, studs shall not be notched or drilled in the middle one-third (1/3) of their length.

      (c) Interior Walls. Interior walls shall be constructed with structural capacity adequate for the intended purpose and shall be capable of resisting a horizontal load of not less than five (5) pounds per square foot.

      (d) Firestopping. Firestopping shall be provided in mobile structures to cut off all concealed draft openings in all stud walls and partitions, including furred spaces, so placed that the maximum vertical dimension of any concealed space is not over ten feet (10ʹ).
