Section 675IAC14-4.3-71. Section R404.1.5; foundation wall thickness based on walls supported

  •    Delete the text of Section R404.1.5 and substitute to read as follows: Concrete and masonry foundation walls shall not be less than the thickness of the wall supported.

    Exceptions: Foundation walls of at least 8 inches nominal thickness shall be permitted:

    1. Under frame walls, with brick or masonry veneer, that are wider than the foundation as permitted in paragraph R606.3, or stud walls that are wider than required by Table R602.3.1 and are supported by a floor system.

    2. Under 10 inch wide, multiple wythe masonry cavity walls, where the total height of the walls supported, including gables, is not more than 20 feet, provided the requirements of Sections R404.1.1 and R404.1.2 are met.
