Section 575IAC1-5.5-6. Regular service entrance door

(a) There must be three (3) riser steps approximately equal in height in the entrance well of Type C and Type D buses. The first step must not be less than ten (10) inches or more than sixteen (16) inches from the ground based on standard chassis specifications.
(b) An additional fold-out lower step may be provided to make the lowest step not more than six (6) inches from the ground.
(c) A bus constructed for transportation of children with disabilities must have grab handles located on each side of the regular service door.
