Section 460IAC6-25-5. Individual's refusal to take medication

  •    (a) If an individual refuses to take medication, the provider attempting to administer the medication shall do the following:

    (1) Document the following information:

    (A) The name of the medication refused by the individual.

    (B) The date, time, and duration of the refusal.

    (C) A description of the provider's response to the refusal.

    (D) The signature of the person or persons observing the refusal.

    (2) Supply the documentation to the provider identified in section 1 of this rule.

      (b) The provider identified in section 1 of this rule shall review the individual's refusal to take medication with:

    (1) the individual's physician; and

    (2) the individual's support team;

    to ensure the health and safety of the individual.
