Rule 460IAC2-3. Interpreter Standards for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing |
Section 460IAC2-3-1. Purpose; exclusion

(a) The purpose of this rule is to establish standards pursuant to IC 12-12-7-5 that determine the necessary standards of behavior, competency, and proficiency in sign language and oral interpreting and ensure quality, professional interpreting services in order to protect the public and persons who are deaf or hard of hearing from misrepresentation.
(b) The provisions of this rule will not apply to interpreters while they are interpreting in a public or private primary or secondary school setting. Rules applying specifically to such educational interpreters are at 515 IAC 6-1.
