Section 410IAC1-6-6. Human immunodeficiency virus test

  •    (a) In providing a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) test under section 5 of this rule, the prenatal care provider shall discuss the following with the pregnant patient:

    (1) The purpose of the HIV test.

    (2) The risk and benefits of the HIV test.

    (3) The test will be performed routinely, unless it is refused in writing.

      (b) If the pregnant patient presents in labor with no documented HIV test on record, then a rapid test must be administered.
