  •    (a) An appointing authority or his or her designee may suspend any employee without pay, for disciplinary purposes, by presenting the employee with a written notice of suspension, a copy of which shall be filed with the director. If the employee is not available, written notice shall be sent to the employee's last known address.

      (b) An appointing authority or his or her designee may suspend any employee without pay pending an investigation or trial of any charges against him or her. If the outcome of the charges or trial of any charges is favorable to the employee, the appointing authority shall reimburse the employee for any lost wages and benefits for the suspension period less any wages the employee might have earned during the suspension period from other employment.
