Section 312IAC5-4-5. Buoys used as navigation aids on Lake Michigan; construction standards

  •    A buoy used as a navigation aid on Lake Michigan must conform to the following construction standards:

    (1) The exterior diameter of the buoy is at least eight (8) inches.

    (2) The buoy is constructed of materials that are shatter-resistant and unsinkable within anticipated usage.

    (3) The buoy is anchored in a manner that is suitable for use on the waters of Lake Michigan.

    (4) Letters and numbers are placed on the regulatory marker as follows:

    (A) Solid black.

    (B) To enable them to be clearly visible to an approaching or passing boat, but not less than three (3) inches high.

    (C) In block style and well-proportioned.
