Section 312IAC18-3-19. Control of the giant African land snail

  •    (a) The giant African land snail (Achatina achatina (L.), Achatina fulica Bowdich, Achatina marginata, and other species of the family Achatinidae (Gastropoda)) is a pest or pathogen and is regulated under this section.

      (b) Except as provided in subsection (c), a person must not:

    (1) possess;

    (2) offer for sale;

    (3) sell;

    (4) give away;

    (5) barter;

    (6) exchange; or

    (7) otherwise distribute or release;

    a giant African land snail, in any life stage, in Indiana.

      (c) The state entomologist may issue a permit to a qualified applicant to properly contain a species of giant African land snail for scientific research.
