Section 170IAC5-1-12. Customer request for meter test; application to commission

  •    (a) Upon application of any customer to the commission, and at the discretion of the commission, a test shall be made of a customer's meter by the public utility or its contractor under the supervision of an employee of the commission. The commission shall promptly notify the public utility of any application. No fee shall be payable by the customer for the test, except as may be charged under section 11(b) of this rule.

      (b) This section shall not interfere with the practice of a public utility in its test of gas service meters except that, upon receiving notice of a written application to the commission by a customer for a test, the utility shall not:

    (1) remove;

    (2) interfere with; or

    (3) discard;

    the meter until completion of the test without the prior written consent of the customer, unless the removal of the meter is required in order to perform the requested test.
